All of these are part of the Tournament of Roses’® Tournament House headquarters–and part of the lore of Tournament House, as the stately mansion celebrates its centennial in 2014!
After chewing gum magnate William W. Wrigley bought it from the original builders in 1914, the house became known as the Wrigley Mansion. It was then considered one of the more “modest” homes on Pasadena’s Millionaires’ Row. (After all, it only has twenty-two rooms!)
At a recent Open House and Summer Social, Tournament members, guests and former Rose Queens gathered to celebrate Tournament House’s hundred years. Tournament member and docent Natalie Russell shared some of her favorite Tournament House stories.
Free public tours of Tournament House will continue throughout August, Thursday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m. Individual reservations are not required. More information is available by calling (626) 449-4100.
